Well that happened to me except it was on my tooth and it turned blue and black. It may be a back tooth (molar) that you have to get pulled out (it usually doesn't hurt that much, except one time I experienced painful pressure, I mean unbearable but I had a crooked root). If you do, the Novocain shots don't hurt that bad, just like a tiny bee sting for 2 seconds, you're face feels like a bubble, and there's a little bit of pressure. I also got sick on my stomach from 8 Novocain shots, but that quickly passed. Get an x-ray, so and so, they'll tell you, you can get an oral surgery if you want. If it's not a tooth (but I'm telling you, it might be) and it's your jaw, you'll probably have to do jaw stretches every day and get on some sort of medicine. This may also be a temporary thing that will pass away, but don't get your hopes up - wink wink :) Don't chew gum for at least a week (SAD BUT TRUE).

It's more than that. Have them do a peripheral x-ray and you will see that you have an impacted wisdom tooth.
