I'm 13 years old, almost 5' 7", and 106 lbs. Is this too thin? At the begining of the summer I was 111 lbs. I think I have lost weight because my mom and dad are gone during the day so sometimes I am just too busy or too lazy to get food. Some days I don't eat until 1 or 2 o'clock. I also became a vegetarian at the begining of July. I eat like most people my age. I like salad and fruit but also love things like cookies and icecream. I'm active with volleyball and gymnastics of and on through the year. People often tell me "You are so skinny." A few days ago my freind hugged me and said, "You are so tiney I'm afreaid i will break you." I'm glad i'm not fat but it kind of hurts my feelings. Am I really that skinny or are people jsut used to seeing fat people? So am I just naturally slim or am I under nourished or something?
Update:I think it could also be I'm loosing muscle. I used to do A LOT of gymnastics. I could so 10 pull ups easily. I could do 1000 crunches. Now I'm a lot weaker than I used to be so I could just be loosing muscle. I'm so sick of these fat people telling me I'm skinny. One day I'm just gonna snap and the next time someone say "You are so skinny" I will say "You are so fat" The thing is I like having a nice figure I don't want to be 125 lbs. like people are saying. What do I do? Just try to build muscle?

you probably have a fast metabolism and with those sports, your just really fit. i'm about 5'7'' and 114/115 pounds and people tell me i'm skinny and i play tennis and i like to run a lot so dont worry about it. i do the same thing when i'm home alone too. lol. i'm realllly lazy.
Your ideal weight would be 135 lbs so above 155 lbs could be regarded as overweight and below 115 lbs could be regarded as underweight so you are probably about 10 lbs underweight.
As you get older you will thicken out automatically but if you want to gain some weight now perhaps plenty of fattening nuts might help. They are rich in potassium, magnesium, iron and zinc.
Instead of junk food like cookies and icecream it would be much better to have a couple of peanut butter sandwiches or a couple of handfuls of nuts.
if your really worried then i think that you should go to the doctors and get a simple blood test i know this sound like a big fuss but its really fastand usually cheap that can tell you if you are lacking any minerals ( like protien ) or whatever and then they will tell you what you need to eatmore or less of to be in the normal zone but you might be just fine i am 5"8 110 pounds and am quite normal i eat normally i am not a veggitarien and i walk my dog no one is the same seriouslydont look at the weight hight scale and try to assure on a more personal level what sizer you should be and really i think you should be the size you are most comfortable with that doesnt hurt you medically

yeah your too thin sweety. i am 5'1" and i weight 110lbs. you should be at the least 120lbs for your height. just eat what ever you want b/c it sounds liek you have a pretty fast metabolism so you can just pig out and not gain weight like alot of ppl w/ normal metabolisms. so just eat more and eat more junk food. it helps gain weight, but thats not a bad thing if your small so dont worry about getting fat. just eat and since your in gymnastics and volleyball you'll turn everyhting you eat into muscle not fat.
Yes you are underweight. Make sure you eat enough protein and iron. if you are then check with a doctor to see what can be done. Right now your bmi is about 16 and anythign under 19 is under weight. weighing 122 pounds for your height puts you just above 19 bmi. so you should gain about 15 pounds.
although i would say if you are not constantly losing weight then you are not significantly unhealthy.
You are probably underweight since you're quite tall.
Even if you're a vegetarian, it is important to eat eggs, beans and nuts as well as take vitamin supplements. You need the protein to get 'good' energy while other nutrients to maintain a healthy blood.
Eating lots of cookies and ice cream isn't necessarily healthy since there can be lots of 'bad' fat.
Yeah abit to skinny, im 110, and 5'1 also and I am not fat, I am actually pretty tiny, size 00-1. So yeah, you should range for 120-125 pounds atleast.

i weighted 80 pounds just because i went on a diet cause i was very heavy before that. i got a lot of ridicule and all that "im gonna break you,you're so tiny stuff"
let them know it hurts your feelings!
what if they premade your meals for later,leftovers? or find a brand of tv dinners you like?
its nice,easy,tasty and you can still eat healthy
you are definitely under weight.i suggest you start eating more than average to atleast start picking up some weight before it get medically serious
