-Keep wedding dress/tux cost low

-Invite less people (This is were you will make and break your budget)

-Make your own food, or check local NON-event caterers. If it says "wedding catering", they probably add an extra grand for the name lol

-Booze. Do you need it. And how much and what kind. Try to stick to just beer or just whine etc if your paying. The more you buy, the faster your money goes out the window.

-Ask family members or friends to help. Can someone cook, be the photographer, help you decorate?

-Check craigslist for already used decorations, after the wedding most people just want to get rid of it, and you can find a really good deal.

- Make your own cake. The $50 on a decorating class would be worth it, and fun :P Then just use regular cake mix (its only like $3 a box)

-Reception location. Unless you get a good "package" for the ceremony and reception, try using your back yard (or family members). Will save you TONS of money.

- Don't forget to SHOP around, and it never hurts to ask about pricing. If the package they off is $500, but you don't need half of the services, ask them if they'd be willing to lower the price.

Stick to your budget. Its scary how fast things can add up. Our budget is $2000, and what I've found is already going over...so we have to cut some stuff out.

Have the wedding during a warm month so you can do it outside in an area that you love, like on the beach or in a friend's backyard/garden. Buy the flowers wholesale at Sam's or Costco, bridesmaids bouquets are very easy and the flowers for the mens' lapels are easy as well. To save money on your bouquet you can have your husband-to-be pick out some flowers with a florist the morning of the wedding and then tie a pretty ribbon around the stems. It will be something special that he picked for you and it will be cheeper than having a florist put together the whole thing. It is also considered good luck in some cultures. Rent your own chairs and tables, ask for discount if you are military or a teacher. Have your bridesmaids wear their own dresses, just in the same color family. Have a friend do the makeup and hair. Have the wedding after lunch but before dinner and do just one cake and appetizers. You can stay with a Signature cocktail or go booze-less with lemonade and iced tea. Don't give favors, everyone throws them away anyways and buy bubbles on ebay for cheep instead of rice.

No one needs to spend a bunch of money on a wedding unless they like to throw money away. Good for you!! We had a small wedding and it wasn't anywhere near that much I got my perfect wedding gown at a sale for $50.00 I made my own tiered cake and all my bridesmaids dresses and the flowers . I made my own Vail and my family all made the food for the reception. We had about 50 people and cooked a ham and a turkey and had a buffet style set up and we didn't do any alcohol just a nice punch and we had a family photographer take our pictures and they were beautiful. If your thrifty and crafty you can do a great wedding. For my son's we all made food and decorated the hall ourself and it was very affordable. If you do it right you will have money let no problem.

Alrightie, what I would do is get a dress on ebay, same with groom's tux, and then just make everything super cheap.

Have the bridesmaids buy their own dresses.

The only thing you splurge on is the reception.

That's literally the most important thing.

Have some people just come over to a cheap small restaurant or party hall that you rent out and then, what you do is buy a cake for $200, and then food will cost about $500. that's 700+700 for your wedding dress

I consider Sept. weddings alittle on the fall side. Which means the color choices are in abundance. You could pair sage green with ivory, adding just a hint of gold (ex: gold charms to hang off of wedding favors). Marine blue is pretty, but you could use periwinkle blue or Wedgewood blue, pairing it w/ Ivory instead of white (using silver as an accent color). other color pairs would be Burnt orange and sherbert peach w/ accent of ivory. It would be tough, but I think you could do it. It would have to be in a free venue (back yard or park). Your best bets for cutting costs are NOT serving alcohol, having it during the daytime, and not having professional photographs.

I did a $5,000 wedding in Las Vegas for 40 in 2004. We had a great buffet lunch catered but no alcohol. No cake, either because dessert came with the lunch.

Use someones house with a nice backyard, or your own.

Make food at home, just have a lot of more snacky type foods instead of a fancy meal. Then just use your crafty talents to decorate the yard and everything else!
