I went to the ER Sunday night with heart palpitations, dizziness and weakness. They couldn't figure out why my heart was beating over 120bpm, but after 2 bags of saline solution, a normal chest x-ray and EKG, they released me when my heart rate came closer to normal.
It is now Thursday and I still feel awful. I'm constantly dizzy, sometimes weak, a bit nauseous and just feel "off". My heart rate has stayed around 80ish bpm (sometimes a bit higher).
Anyone have any idea what could be going on?? Why do I still feel awful?
(by the way, I have greatly increased my liquid intake to fend off dehydration).

2 bags of saline tells me you were pretty dehydrated. If that's what they told you was the cause of your tachycardia, it makes sense. You say you greatly increased your fluid intake. What fluid are you now drinking large quantities of? If you are drinking lots of caffeinated or soft drinks, that may be your problem. Make sure you drink lots of water. Also, it may be worth it to check your other blood levels to see if you are deficient in any electrolytes, potassium, calcium, etc. That can also affect your heart rate. Check your BP. Is it low? Was it low that night in the ER? This kind of seems like a BP problem to me, but could have other causes as well. If you are drinking plenty of water every day, getting plenty of sleep, eating a balanced diet and getting some moderate exercise and this is still a problem, you definitely need to see a doc. Some forms of diabetes can also cause this kind of thing by lowering the fluid level in your body.

Please call your doctor. Perhaps the doctor will give you a referral to a cardiologist (a dr who specializes in disorders of the heart and circulatory system) for further evaluation. If you feel as though you have a medical emergency, please do *not* hesitate to call 9-1-1 or ask someone to drive you to the nearest emergency room.
