I know one of my cats has gotten to my vet and scratched and/or bitten him. But this cat is very skittish and afraid of most people so I'm sure being bitten doesn't happen all that often. As said by other people vets know how to restrain animals and have better reflexes than others. If necessary they throw a towel or blanket over the animal. And it just seems that the animals are usually so terrified that they won't bite or scratch.. this is just from my experience.
Not a lot, since vets and techs are taught ways of handling animals that are safe for both them and the animals.
But it happens. What happens more often than being bitten or scratched, from what I have observed, is someone getting their back thrown out by a big heavy dog that suddenly decides to jump off the exam table or out of the dog bath tub.
I'd guess that animals likely try... but I think like any one with a specific specality vets are so used to it, they either rarely get hit (good reflexes) and are likely experts in restraining animals. If you were a pediatric doctor, you'd prolly get very good at learning how to keep kids calm. I think it'd be the same kind of thing for vets. I know they also have heavy duty gloves for the really terrified animals.
Lol...yeah, they get hurt sometimes. It's part of the job. I felt kinda sorry for my vet and her assistant. I took my cat to them and she's a horrible thing and she totally lacerated the vet tech's hand. They decided not to touch her after that and I had to go get her and take her home ^_^;;;;.
My kitty put a nasty gash in the vet techs arm when he was getting his temperature taken. I felt really bad but I can't say that I blame him =/ I would fight that too! lol

Nope, that's what the Vet Tech's are for.
We wrestle them into submission, then the doctor comes over and does whatever.
I'm just kidding. There is a level of danger.
And it's more about sickness and medicine than it is about "cute animals"
Remember that animals !!!HATE!!! the vet. Even well animals just want to leave you. Some violently.
Volunteer first. You will be shocked and amazed.

Sometimes, but when you work with animals all the time you become skilled in ways to avoid being scratched and you don't usually get bitten anyway.
