There is a smaller risk of neck or back injury with crunches. It isn't so important how many you do. Just do it until you give out. Take a day off when needed.
Really focus on contracting the muscles hard. Do variations. Pedal with your feet in the air and alternate knee to elbow. This will make them more challenging and target different parts of the stomach muscles.
Situps or crunches will only strengthen the stomach and add muscle. You must lose weight with more exercise and dieting to flatten your stomach.
Sit ups work you rhipflexors as well as your Rectus abdominals,
The risk in doing sit ups far outweighs the benefit.
By doing too many sits ups you risk over developing your hip flexors produce a muscle force that would over time induce a forward pelvic tilt putting stress on your lumbar spine from compression to lumbar disks and also causing your belly to protrude due to excess cirvature of lumbar spine caused by tight hip flexors So in stead of flattening your belly it would appear to extend out!
Crunches or sit ups will not flatten your belly the only way to flatten your belly is through Cardio and proper dieting.
So If your goal is to strengthen your ABS/Core muscles without putting Stress to your lower back Crunches are better,
More challenging are crunches over a stability Ball.
Pilates is another excellent way of strengthen the core without compromising the stability and strength of your lower back.
Remember always chose exercises that carry mo e benefit than risk.
And in closing too many crunches or sit ups will actually cause your stomach muslces to Grow in size.
Do both, each hit the abs from top to bottom. Abs are flat muscles so it'll take some time to get them in shape. Same reps for both. Do sit ups lifting your legs left and right so you'll work the love handles too. Do it slow, holding the legs up for a second or two. Good luck
honestly, examine shows that doing crunches and stuff of that style that concentrate on your abs only upload muscle. in case you opt to flatten them you only ought to do severe power workouts, that's frequently engaged on a treadmill. engaged on the treadmill is the best thank you to lose flab, which makes your abdomen flat :]

do some research, you'll find that situps are hard on the lower back, and work the hip flexor muscles, and not directly on the abs.
Crunches are safer and work the abs directly.
You'll want to find your own mix of types of crunches to do, how many, how often etc. Try sets of 10 for starters.

sit ups. because they are harder, and more painful to feel in the morning
crunches dont work as well. because they dont burn as much the next day
do about 50 a day and work ur way upwards
it may take a while but u will see results
crunches adds the supporting of the legs
i recomend 4 sets of 20
2 in morning two at night
do more if ur up to it
I think sit ups because you're using a lot more muscles. You;; notice when u get sore. Should take 1 to 2 weeks, depending on how much u do
good luck!
I think that sit-ups and crunches are the same thing, so really neither is better for you it just really depends on how many you do.
