What kind of shows are you watching? Do you think they are appropriate for you age? And do your parents know what you are watching?
I ask these questions, because I am very curious as to what the youth in the USA are watching... And what steps parents are taking to keep the youth from watching things they shouldn't or if they are at all?
Update:I also want to know what parents think is appropriate for certain ages.

right now im watching my favorite show ever one tree hill and my second favorite gossip girl. im going to be 17 soon and i think im old enough to watch them and yes my family knows I watch them. I think that some kids definitely shouldnt be able to watch them because sometimes they can get racey like GG for example its not all realistic but it does touch upon things that highschoolers are dealing with right now. Also some kids just are not responsible enough and copy what they see on these shows or try to be like the people on them idk thats what i think
When I was under 18, I watched science programs like crazy, and loads of Star Trek, Twilight Zone, Lost, Smallville, and Stargate SG-1 (idk if Atlantis even existed back then). I also watched some of Doctor Who (the old series, I don't think the new one existed back then either), the X-Files, Firefly, Buffy, and Angel. My parents didn't know about much other than Star Trek and Twilight Zone, but that was only because they just weren't interested otherwise. In any case, pretty much everything was age-appropriate. I guess my parents just trusted me enough to know I wouldn't watch anything inappropriate, or else figured my aversion to romantic stuff and crass humor meant I just wasn't interested in watching most things that would be inappropriate.
I am a parent of a 9 year old. I let him watch pretty much anything as long as I know he's watching it. No porn or things like that. I figure that he has to know that there a curse words, violence and things of that nature and it gives him an opportunity to witness things that will raise questions that we can discuss. One thing, and possibly the only thing, that I have found that I thought was completely age inappropriate is "Total Drama Island" on Cartoon Network. I feel that they put too much direct adult oriented comedy and situations in this show to put in on a cartoon themed channel during normal child viewing hours.
