So long story short.... I had a little 1 gallon gas tank (one of those plastic red ones) in the trunk of my car...it had like an inch or two of gas in it. Well....yesterday it tipped over and I apparently didn't have the nozzle secure, becuse my car reaks of gas!! How can I fix this? I was thinking I would sprinkle baking soda in it today and air it out for a few hours. Also, I have jumper cables and a battery charger back there, can I clean those up? I am afraid to even drive the thing!

Saw dust and soak the fuel out . Necessarily you need to water wash it . Dry the carpets and wipe dry. Re fit carpets after a week's time when fully dry. The smell would go away soon enough.
Do you drive an electric or hybrid? I thought most cars have a gas smell in the trunk. Maybe if you thought that spill was bad those 4 or 6 ounces of gas you spilled would be impossible to get rid of if you didn't know that a gas smell in the trunk is usual.
