Stick to your guns and use cloth, both day and night (you can double up at night to prevent leaks). It is your baby, not your mom's, and you are the parent and should take care of the baby the way you want to.

Cloth is the best generic diaper and wipe you can find. Cloth is always better than disposable. First you aren't putting any chemicals against your precious baby's skin, and second, you are being a tremendous help to the environment using cloth.

Cloth is cheaper over the long run, it breathes where disposables can't meaning less to no diaper rashes.

Coths is softer against the baby's skin, and it isn't as hot and sticky as disposables.

Laundering cloth isn't that much trouble, maybe one to two loads a week, but it is insignificant when compared to the comfort and health of your baby, and isn't that what really counts? Shouldn't that come before your own convenience?

I know all this because my two kids were both cloth diapered the whole time they were in diapers. I also know it because I myself wear cloth diapers all the time. I'm incontinent and I've worn both disposable and cloth for extended periods to find which is better, and I'm here to tell you, cloth is the only way to go, it's much more comfortable to be wearing cloth than a disposable.

Again, isn't comfort and the health of your baby what really matters? Not only that, but you should have the right to choose what you want your baby to wear, not your mom. Tell her that if she really wants to help, start the washing machine and wash the diapers for you.

I have been in your shoes and I have found that at WalMart

White Cloud diapers and Parents Choice baby wipes are real good. But if you look in the adds you can find some really good sales for Huggies, Luvs and Pampers. Sometimes it is cheaper to buy these the cheap ones aren't so cheap. i would buy them by the case when I could got twice as much for the money.

Oh if you use the cheap diapers and they are a little full and the child falls on bottom the diapers explodes and what a mess that is....good luck...

I love the Target brand diapers and they are so inexpensive. I started using them when my daughter was a size 3 (104 diapers/$13.99!!!). I think they're pretty comparable to the regular Huggies. The White Cloud ones from Walmart are also pretty good. We have never had a problem with either of them leaking at night.

I used to use the Target wipes that were equivalent Huggies, but I don't think they make them anymore. If you ever do buy name brand wipes, I would recommend Huggies over Pampers wipes. Pampers wipes are so thin.

We use the target and walmart brands of diapers. The kroger brand is good too.They both are great. Its about $11 for a pack of 90 diapers. We just use the expensive ones at night and the cheap ones during the day. Although the walmart brands are good enough for night time too. They are my favorite diapers out of all the ones we have tried. The wal mart or target wipes are good too. But we buy the huggies b/c there isn't a very big price difference and the cucumber and aloe scent smells sooooo good. As far as training pants I would use the target or walmart brand too.

First off.. use what YOU want to use for YOUR child.. just because your mother wouldnt use cloth, doesnt mean that YOU shouldnt either.

I have always used papers cruisers on my kids.. i just like them because they have more give then the other diapers... to me, with the stretchy tabs, would just seem more comfortable for my babies, and Ive never had a problem with leaking. white cloud from walmart is absolutly the WORST!! the leak leak leak..

As far as training pants go, i used pampers easy ups.. they are not a stiff as the Huggies pull-ups. It seems like there is a stiff piece of cardboard or something in the front of pull-ups. Plus they always gave my son a rash. With Huggies brand also, when the diaper gets a little too wet, all these little nasty gel beads get all over your baby. and they're hard to get off.

As far as wipes go, i usually use target brand, no need to spend the extra cash for pampers or huggies.. I happen to like the thicker kind of wipe, but its really any wipe is fine.

AND PS.. There are always coupons in pampers diapers for 1-2 dollars off your next pack.. so that saves you cash too!!

I use the white cloud diapers from walmart they are cheap and my daughter doesn't leak through them. I also use parents choise wipes and buy them by the box. I also buy the diapers by the box. Another brand I have found that rock is family dollar. I dont know if you have a family dollar where you

live but they have a brand that is 6.50 and they never leaked with her. I also used the target brand diapers and they suck lol.Im not so sure what would work best for you since you have a boy. But im with you on saving money. Hope this works

I'm not American so I can't vouch for the various brands there. General rules of thumb: look for unscented diapers and wipes as it can aggravate baby's skin; recognizable cartoons are cute but remember--they are not free; elastic waist and reinforced legs prevent spills and are available in many brands; my doctor suggested if possible to go a size up for maximum absorbency; and buy in bulk for maximum savings. Check out www.diaperreview.com for name brand comparisons. Pampers Swadlers for babies under 4 mos did very well over all scoring a 9/10.

As for training pants, I've tried EVERYTHING from the costly pull-ups to lined plastic underwear from Walmart, none of which helped the training process for my stubborn boy so save your money and stick to diapers until he gets the hang of the potty routine. Kandoo wipes really sucked though -- too dry for my liking -- there are better flushable wipes out there.

PS. Don't be too discouraged by your mom. Yes, cloth can be work but fortunately there are diaper services that help. I've heard that cloth babies tend to toilet train quicker and research comparing the age of toilet trained children today vs. the 1960's tend to support that.

I'm not sure what state you live in, but you've heard of Albertsons right? In Indiana, it's Osco brand. Well, my son's had a hard time potty training and he's 3 years old, I was using Goodnites for a long time. They're so expensive!!! Then one day I went to the (Albertson's/Osco) and they had their own brand of Goodnites, they're like less than half the price and they're EXACTLY THE SAME. I love them, They have sizes just like Goodnites too. I think their brand of diapers are great and I've tried almost everything. When it comes to saving a buck I'd go with them. Also their wipes aren't bad either. Give em a try, you won't be losing money wise if you don't like them.

Eckerd/Rite Aid brand diapers are by far the best generic brand. Be careful with Parent's Choice (Walmart) as they've been known to cause rashes in children with sensitive skin (although Parent's Choice wipes are wonderful!).

I don't know what area of the country you live in, but if you live in the Northeast, Price Chopper brand is also very good. All these brands make training pants too.

There is a generic brand and Walmart that's great! I think they're called White Cloud. I don't care too much for any of the generic wipes that I've tried though. You get what you pay for, and I'd rather not my finger poke through into some poopoo. If you know what I'm sayin'! Usually I just look for sales and always clip any coupons I may find. I love huggies best!
