I'm considering dying my hair pink for "pink day" at my school, but i wasn't too impressed by some results on google images that displayed pink hair that only came out single-tone and neon-y. After seeing this picture:

I had the idea of, perhaps, combining 2 shades of pink, or even using another colour with pink, to give my hair a bit more depth. However, whenever i search for "mixing hair dyes", it just lists multiple ways of forming a hair colour "paste" from a kit. Is there anyway to achieve similar results to the picture, without professional help, and, if so, how do you do this?

^There's a really nice pink combo. I currently have my hair teal and purple (the under-layer of my hair being purple) and all I did was section it so I didn't get the purple in parts of my hair it didn't belong in.
If you want the combo of bright pink and pastel pink like in the photo, Just take some of the pink dye and dilute it with conditioner. Keep in mind, your hair has to be pretty light to do pink, otherwise it would be a bright-orange-y pink (ew) and the light pink won't show up at all.
I think you should mix the required colour and use it in your hair. Thank you
