- two of the best dramas on TV at the moment. I didn't think I was going to like not having Richard in DIP but Humphrey has more than filled his boots.
As for Martin Shaw - mmmmmm is all I can say! Much as I did prefer him as John Deed.
Thoughts?

I like 'Death in Paradise' very much, and I approve of the new lead Kris Marshall. They've made the transition very well and I think Humphrey has possibilities, romantic even, that Richard never had. Dwayne is my favourite character, another great part for ex-Cat Danny John-Jules.
'Inspector George Gently' I'm not so sure about. Personally, I'm not a fan of Martin Shaw. But I do like Lee Ingleby's character, when he's not whiny. I mainly watch it because it's set in my region, although it doesn't exactly give a great impression of the area. I remember the 60's but I don't remember them being so noir and sordid. Still, I like to play spot the location.
I love Death In Paradise and, like you, was sceptic about another actor taking over the lead role. However, I do like Kris Marshall in the part and he is making it his own. Really enjoying it.
I also like Inspector George Gently and like it when things are set back in the 60s. I have enjoyed other roles played by Martin Shaw - The Professionals and Judge John Deed.
I like Death in Paradise too. George Gently is a little too slow moving for me. I've watched every Poirot episode and recently watched the Doc Martin series.
Two easy to watch decent dramas with good storylines. I like the young sidekick in George Gentley!
agreed, but I much prefer Camille in DIP ..lol
