Does anyone know about the "Ocean Beach Hotel" in San Diego @ 5080 Newport Avenue.

Is the hotel nice, safe & clean? What about the surfing? I'm a beginner & have only surfed Mission Beach. Is the surf good for a beginner, or would you recommend the short drive up to Mission Beach? Are there surf shops in the area to rent a long board & wetsuit?

I'll be staying Memorial Day weekend. Arriving on Sat 5/28 & leaving on Tuesday 5/28

Any other comments or thoughts would be appreciated.
