Do they have the right to force someone to bow down to their god?
I'm 15, and go to a Christian school, and have recently decided to stop following Jesus. I go to this school simply for the good education now, as are so many other students.
Our teacher has said that she understands not all of us are Christians, and that her goal isn't to force it onto us.
However, she always checks to see if anyones eyes are open/if someone isn't bowing down to God during prayertime. Then she tells us off sternly for doing so.
1. There's a little contradiction there. You don't want to force it onto us, yet you're MAKING me bow down to your god?
2. Even if I was a Christian, since when should everyone have to pray/bow down at the same time?
If you want to talk to your god, do so. I don't have to do it when you do it.
Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately thats a part of private schools. However where i live there are christian public schools and by Canadian law i believe that they can't force anyone to do anything. The same would go for a non-christian public school. In biology, you don't HAVE to dissect a frog, so why in religious studies should you be forced to pray?
That being said, i would speak to my teacher and tell them i refuse to pray and that i want something else to do with my time. Even if it means sitting outside reading or doing homework while the others pray.

Wow! what a big man!
If you know so much better, why did you go to a Christian School, and not an Atheistic School?
See, this is the sort of ingratitude that is ruining your country.
When children prayed in school, did you ever hear someone brought
a machine gun or something and shot everyone he could?
Neither did they have to scan you for deadly weapons coming in school, did they?
Atheists are ingrates against God for whatever He gave them.
They want His Institutions that gave them their Civilization and their Society removed.
When it all collapses into Anarchy, they are bewildered and wondering what causes it!
You'll see!
At a private school, you can be "forced" to conform to their rules.
I say forced in quotes because they cannot physically force you to bow. You can always refuse their demands. They, however, could punish you or expel you for that.
If a teacher physically pushes you down to make you pray, call the police and say that you were assaulted.
you've spotted an inconsistency in your teachers moral and ethical instincts. Good for you, it shows you're thinking. Keep up the good work, but at your age, you will have to be patient, unless you want to spend some time in the principals office explaining your position.
Hmmm... This sounds like Catholic school. Catholicism is not Christianity.
dont like it go to a freakin public school
