My younger brother is coming to stay with me for a month. He is blind and has a seeing eye dog. My apartment allows pets but only if you pay extra monthly and put down a deposit. I know they can not charge me for having the dog there, but I was curious, should I tell my landlord? Perhaps you have experience as an apartment owner and could help. Thank you.

Common courtesy and common sense says tell the landlord. Explain that he is just visiting for the month and why he needs the dog. Even tho he requires the service dog he is not on your lease and if your landlord wants to make an issue of it he could. I had a similiar situation and my landlady only said thanks for telling me and yes it is OK.
Yes! that would be nice as a courtesy to let your landlord no the circumstances of your brother, and why the dog is there.I mean even the landlord cannot mess with the Americans Disability Act.I think your brother has a valid reason for the dog.
You do not have to tell your landlord. Seeing eye dogs are allowed where ever your brother is, so you should not have any problems.
you need to tell then because if they see it and you havent told them, they have the right to evict you. just tell them the situation
