I met this girl at the mall and she smokes pot and drinks, and I'm straight edge meaning i dont do drugs, alcohol, and won't have sex until marriage. Anyways, i was wondering, do you guys and girls think its weird that me and this girl get along as friend despite us being polar opposites? and why do you think we would connect despite somewhat opposite in our behavior??? thanks!

No way! It is completely normal and awesome. I have many friends that drink and smoke but I don't care. And they don't care that I don't drink or smoke. As long as you accept each other for who they are it really doesn't matter. Diversity is fun! I think it would be boring and very weird to have a friend that had exactly the same beliefs as me.
It's what straight edge is all about. It's a take off of the grunge/drug scene, the dress/hygiene is similar, but they stay away from drugs/alcohol/tobacco. It's kind of like the old "We don't need drugs to have fun" message. It's more like, I can still be a total grunge head, but don't have to do drugs or drink to participate. I think it works real well for his character, it's very believable. The bags under his eyes from not being able to sleep really adds to it. Most wrestlers are on some sort of pain killers for the constant pain to help them sleep. Punk doesn't take any, so he finds it harder to sleep than most. It just adds more depth to the character.
I have a friend who drinks and smokes (both only on occasion but regardless) and I'm straight edge. We also completely disagree politically but somehow we still get along. Sometimes opposites attract (not always but sometimes)
i'm just like you and i have some really good friends that do/have done things i will never ever in 957869074 years will ever do. we're perfectly fine and nothing has changed. it was different for me though, because i found out after we became friends, so things were a bit awkward at first. but since you know right away, everything should be fine.
I don't think it's that unusual. You're both very different and that's a big part of why you find each other interesting!
