Hi, not sure if this is in the right section but my mate has called me with abit of trouble and her doctor cant figure out what has happened.... basicallly she went to praslin, and awoke one morning to what seemed to be a giant centipede on her foot, it bit her twice, immediatly she got intense burning pain and she felt immediatly sick, and very hot.
her foot swelled up and went a purply red colour, now shes flown home and four days later she still has everynow and again a high temp although the swelling has now gone down, she went to the doctor and he wants to know what might of been inside the venom to cause the reaction so he can give her the antidote. ANY help needed. both her myself and the doctor have tried researching what it might of been to no luck, so im now resorting to hopeing someone here will know.
Update:she said it was flat and long and brown and red and about 10inches long

It sounds like the one, yuk!
Contact a medical school with a institute for tropical diseases. In Hamburg, Germany exists such an institute. I am sure one of the Universities in your home country will have someting like this too. Did you contact a doctor on the Seychelles? Would have been the most simple one, because they know the animals there.
One addition to all camping trip should be Benadryl or some form of it. The antihistimne can usually belay allergic reations to bites of bug and spiders.
Each country I have been to has a list if people seek it out of the dangerous insects and animals in their country with some treatment listed.
Seek out this info from that country's web site or a local country.
Pretty stupid doctor she visited.....there are all sorts of tests for the venom she apparently received from the bite. Check with the local health dept. They will want to know if it could be contagious too.
Look up the puss caterpillar on google images to see if it looks like the one that bit you. If that is it there thosands of pages on google about it. Good luck!
numerous years in the past I had the comparable element ensue. on the 2d day my reaction grow to be comparable on your yet day 3 grow to be undesirable my leg all started turning black around the chew section. interior 3 hours my leg grow to be black to the knee and heavily swollen. on the er they swore it grow to be a snake chew yet I had seen the spider. That grow to be 15 years in the past. i'm ok yet my leg sounds like I had third degree burns Get to the dr Patti
I would recommend as well for everyone that if you see something bite you, try to capture/kill it and bring it with you to the doctor to identify.
I don't know where 'Praslin' is or where you are, but in the U.K. the School of Tropical Medicine in Liverpool may have someone who knows about this condition.
Did you try to research online? I don't have any idea what that could be.
Hope your friend gets better.
