I suppose the topic is rather on the 'undocumented workers'.

These people came into Canada as visitors. At the point of entry (airports) they were authorized a period of stay after which time they either must go home or extend the period of stay. Visitors to Canada are not authorized to work or study, unless they have obtained approval in the form of a permit, from the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC).

These people chose not to observe the immigration law and regulation. They had broken all aspects of the law as it applies to visitors to Canada.

In most circumstances these people are willing to take a lower than average wage because of their illegal status. Some employers knowingly are taking this to their advantages.

As a result, average wages could be driven down, and less positions are available to the local Canadians. In addition, the undocumented workers are indeed 'cutting the line' in that there are people in the overseas who are in line to get the official approval, i.e. a work permit, to come to work in Canada.

So there are some legitimate reasons beyond just the politics.

How about when we're asked for our driver's licenses we tell the officer -- gee officer, I'm an undocumented driver. Or when we practice a profession without a license, I'm an undocumented doctor, insurance salesman, lawyer, retailer, or whatever. That's just political crap and should stand for nothing except for what it is, law-breakers looking for sympathy but should get none! Wouldn't we be breaking the same laws? So why shouldn't they get the same punishment?

The only logic would be so you stop looking at borders and the USA sovereignty so they can push the North American Union agenda even harder. For those of you that don't know they are trying to combine Mexico, USA and Canada into one country.
