when do you start testing for ovulation? I got some tests, but I don't know if I should wait until the middle of my cycle or what... what if I ovulate early? and how often do you test? sorry I am new at this. this will be our first cycle trying... Thanx!
Update:oh ya, my last cycle was only 26 days, and on the fertility tracker it says I should be fertile from the 7th to the 11th... but I havn't tracked my temp or anything so that may not be accurate...

Start at day 10. That's a good number regardless of cycle length. You test once a day (your urine is most saturated in the morning, but you can test at any time during the day). Good Luck!
Since reading your addition I'm going to suggest starting a little earlier. You should ovulate around day 13 and they usually give you 7 ovulation tests in the over the counter variety. Maybe try around day 7-8 to start testing.
This is my standard answer......... go get a book called Taking Charge of your fertility by Toni Weschler
This book will help you with all of your menstrual and conception questions. It’s for all women - not just women trying to conceive. It covers everything from temperature to mucus checking, etc.. It will help you understand your body and all the myths about it. It will help you time when you are ovulating and the best times to conceive – or not! It tells you how to figure out your cycle and what to expect. My husband and I tried for a year to conceive and nothing happened. The first month I used the book we conceived right away. Now I am due Feb 2. It's about knowing your body and knowing when you are fertile or not. You can pick and choose what you do with your info. Good luck and don't listen the all the myths
If you have regular cycles then 10 days is when you should start testing. Since yours are shorter, then start testing around day 7. You should test in the afternoon, but make sure to hold your urine for a few hours befort testing. Some women test more than once a day to make sure they catch their LH surge. Others just test once and are still able to get a positive result. You'll just kind of have to try it and see how it works for you. Once you get a positive you should have intercourse that day, and every day until you get a negative result. Once you get the negative result have intercourse once more just because the egg could still be there. Good Luck!
