I know that the voice in my head wont sound like the voice through a recording.
but when I record myself talking on both my camera and my phone is sounds more normal I guess like deeper and closer to (but not the same as) the voice in my head.
But when singing it sounds completely different. much higher and almost whisper/thin like even when im loud or singing lower
I have sung in front of others and they tell me to put myself out there but I cant because of the recording.
I dont know if its a mic issue or which one is actually how I sound...Any advice?
And no this isnt with an actual mic just phone and camera audio.

Cheap recording device have a poor recording and sound output quality anyway, so the ONLY TRUE and HONEST feedback comes from a fully trained vocal teacher after an OFFLINE one-on-one audition.
Then again, you are now hearing your voice completely outside of your skull for the first time, so it IS supposed to sound different, just because now you are hearing your voice WITHOUT any resonance from your skull bones and cavities.
Ask your singing teacher why you sound like this. If you aren't having singing lessons then that would explain why you sound like a beginner singer when you record yourself. Without singing lessons you will be a beginner singer. If the others that you have sung in front of are not trained singing teachers then they don't know what is required so their opinions are useless to you.
Make sure you're breathing properly. If you're not, your voice will not project right and you'll get that soft whispery sound.
