I have two other adult cats and this kitten was given to me. Im assuming he cant be more than 3 months old. He seems to drool a lot and thats not normal- at least not with any cats Ive had in the past. Is this some sign of something wrong?
It may have a disease/condition of some kind. I think you're going to have to take it to the vet to get a reliable answer. I've had many cats and havn't come across excessive drooling, so it sounds abnormal to me.
I received a kitten as a gift several years ago. Once we became acquainted, I noticed she was always drooling on me. I would pet her and drool would be all over me, worse than my dog! When I went to vet, they did a thorough check and discovered that she drooled because "she's in heaven." Apparently, the "bliss" of being petted and loved really got to her!
However, if your kitty is drooling all the time--when he's not being petted--I would call the vet. The kitty could have something wrong with its teeth or gums.
I would just ring the vet and ask someone there. They have the most experience and can tell you if it is normal or not, or if you should take it in. Sometimes they offer a home remedy to try first and then if that doesn't work to bring it in. I have rung the vet twice and both times they have suggested what I should do at home and if that doesn't work to bring the cat in. First time there was something wrong with her eye and they told me to cleanse it with warm water and salt. It worked the first time but didn't the second so I took her in. The other time I thought my cat had a tick and they told me the correct way to remove it but I took her in anyway. It wasn't a tick after all - just a bindie!
I went to numerous vets and hospitals and they still did not have the answer. I figured it out on my own.
Check the litter you are using. If you are using anything with Crystals, Change it immediately. (That was the problem with mine) If that isnt the problem - Its something in your house...Check to see what kind of blinds you have etc.
Kittens get into everything,So you have to double check what cleaning products you use on the floors etc....
Any questions, please ask. I've been there....!!!
