i try to wrote everyday because of just lack of not knowing of where i want to go next with my ideas but i do usually come up with at least one new idea each day to add to my other ideas or i'm asking for help through my writing buddies of which i have 2 but i dont write as often and as long and as much as i would like to to which i hope i will improve on that in the future like in the next couple days
I force myself to write at least 100 words every day, to keep from letting my brain drift away from the novel. Often, I'm in bed when I realize I haven't written yet, and won't let myself sleep until at least 100 more words are tacked on. My goal is usually 1000 words but my actual is usually 400-700 words these days.
The time it takes to write these words varies GREATLY from day to day. Once, I wrote 800 words in 20 minutes in my car (during NaNoWriMo when I tried to write 1700 words a day). Yesterday it took me nearly an hour and a half to write 750 words.
Sometimes the words come easy because I'm just writing about nothing important: letting myself ramble about what the school looks like, the history of school and how the kids feel about the school... Sometimes the words come easy because everything's going just as I planned it, and it seems so natural and simple to know the words that come next.
Then there are times I hate writing those 100 words, and it takes nearly 20 minutes to get them out. I might have no idea what I want to have happen next, so I stall out. Or I know exactly what I want to have happen, but the right words just aren't coming to shape the scene... the words that come to mind don't do the job, and it takes an age for the right ones to surface.
It's a touchy business. For me, it's much better to focus on number of words than time spent.
I write something every day. Each morning I wake up and look up a quote for the day and write it down. Then I pull out my journal and my writing prompts book and do a writing exercise for a half hour. That is at a minimum. On days I am not working one of my two jobs to attending class, I can sometimes write for 8 to 10 hours off and on.
How long and how often do I write? Not long enough, not often enough. If I had the time and chutzpah, I would like to write for 1 to 2 hours a day, which would come out to roughly 2000 words at my speed.
Often? When I have the need or will. When imagination comes once again.
How much... Minimum being two hours. My maximum has been eight hours. Since I was falling asleep during the 7th hour I began to type two words per minute. The two hours? Well I covered 5k in that time of words.
I write every so often. I purposely try not to write every day, that way I can get good ideas and think about them before I immediately write them down. Whenever I write, however, I write about 2 pages per day.
if i don't get interrupted and if im in the "zone" then i write pretty much all day. but i normally DO get interrupted--you know, bathroom, gotta eat, places to be--so like... 5, 6 hours a day, every day. Of course, i never push myself to write. i only write when im--as i out it before--in the zone! i love my zone!!!! ^_^
but really. never ever push urself to write. the words wont come true and free and creativly like they should if u push. just let them flow.
I write as long as it takes me to write every thought i want to write down. I write how often when I have time to and when I have an idea to write down. When it comes to writing it depends on YOU and you alone. YOU decide how often you want write. YOU decide how long to write. it all depends on you.

Many things play a factor in this.
Am I inspired?
Am I stuck?
Am I on a creativity surge?
Do I have lots of time to spare?
Are the words practically rolling off my tongue?
Does everything piece together nicely, without much rewording?
Am I distracted?
I don't force myself to write; that's the main thing.
Although deadlines are good for motivation, I cannot write while under pressure.
I write when I have the time, and actually feel like writing.
How long it lasts will depend on what it is I'm writing, how interested in it I am, and so on.
To pinpoint and actual length and amount per day would be impossible.
Yesterday, for example, I amazed myself and wrote close to 5000 words.
Today, however, I only wrote about a paragraph.
So, therefore, it will vary day by day.

Depends.
If I sit down with a spurt of creativity.
4 hours. Five at the most.

Are you asking this because you do it too little or too much? Read the poem "So you Want to be a Writer" by Charles Bukowski, it might help you
