in 2006 i was charged with felony 2nd degree burglary after jail time, probations, and impatient treatment is was dropped to a gross misdemeanor. this happened in minnesota. i reside in california but cant find work. so my questions is does texas or another state really have a statute of limitations on background checks? it was 7 years ago that this happened. if there isnt limitations, is there a chance i can get something like this sealed or expunged? thank you

I have never heard of any statute of limitations of background checks. If you were a minor, you can get the record closed, but that's about it. Since criminal records are getting into law enforcement/government computers everywhere, whatever you did will follow you around.
Since it was dropped from a felony, you may not have to report it at all. You may have to consult with a lawyer to be certain of what your options are. Maybe this has nothing to do with why you are not getting a job...not all places do background checks.
