Hi, I've been trying to show the similarities and differences between aristotles idea of ethics and the behaviour of moses and abraham.
So far i have shown that abraham shows "temperance" which is in line with aristotles ethics. He rejects the goods and wealth offered by King of Sodom. However, he shows cowardice in how he lies to the pharaoh that sarai is his sister and not his wife. This is against Aristotle's ethics. Also he fights king Chedorlaomer not because he is courageous but because he wants to free his nephew. So he doesnt really show signs of courage.
In the case of moses, his doubts and lack of self confidence is not a virtue. The way he angrily kills and egyptian for beating a hebrew shows his lack of restraint. Also he orders the sons of levi to kill their brothers and friends to atone for praying to an idol rather than God. This again shows his lack of control. This is against Aristotles idea of virtue and ethics.
Is there any other link that I am missing? I feel like there is more to it, but I cant seem to go further.

Even if we take a very realistic and objective view of when the stories about Abraham and Moses were written, it would have been around 300+ years before Aristotle existed. Secondly, the two cultures were fairly separate and there is little evidence to suggest that either had much of an effect on the other.
On the other hand, we can point out any number of moral failings in Abraham, Moses and Aristotle...
