My daughter has been sick for the last 2 weeks. We don't have a lot of money so when the temperature dropped; she wore the coat she had. Well, because it wasn't the right color, a teacher took it from her and told her she couldn't have it back. She had short sleeves on and came home burning up with a fever! Then today, my son called me, he is in the 3rd grade. His teacher sent him to the office for the day because he had a small tear in his bottom back pants leg. I could understand if my kids were problem children, but they are both in advanced classes and on the honor roll. It has gotten to the point that they hate school because of the uniform policy. It seems to me that the schools have become fashion police instead of teaching my children. I want to know why my tax dollars have to go to public schools that get to decide what is best for my children without giving me a vote. Is there anything I can do so my children can opt out of this ridiculous policy, so they can continue their education?
Update:I used to home school them, but don't really have the time now, as I am trying to find a job. So, if I have to start home schooling again, I want to stop my tax dollars from going to the school district, what can I do? Please no ignorant or smarmy answers. If you really have answers and want to help, great! If not, get off your soap box and shut up!

That is their policy, for good reason may I add. If one does not like their school system, home school is always an option. Most districts give out at a minimum, one set of uniform clothes for low income families.
Your options are: (1) Enroll them in another school in your school district, if the district will allow it, (2) Pay to send them to private school -- which is a problem with money and the fact that they'll end up having to wear uniforms again, or (3) Home-school them.
Yes, schools that have uniform policies may be looked upon as the "fashion police," but the other side of the coin is they're taking the focus off of children wearing the latest "in" duds and reinforcing the ideal that everyone is equal -- still unique, but equal. You'd be amazed at how cruel students can be and how they'll pass judgment on other kids just because of the clothes they wear...
I desire my college had uniforms when I attended. i think of there are greater execs than cons. First could be budget. pupils could basically want 2-3 uniform clothing which may well be worn for 5 days a week for 9 months. mum and dad shop a set of money on clothing for his or her babies, and the uniforms tension the scholars to tutor their individuality in greater complicated procedures. Plus, uniforms with the college's crest embroidered onto them act as a protection degree because of the fact it makes intruders much less demanding to become attentive to. i could have enjoyed uniforms returned in HS because of the fact I hated arising with an outfit each and every morning, and being judged by capacity of different pupils in keeping with what I wore. i think of a jewelery coverage is nearly stupid although. there is not any authentic reason to shrink how lots rings somebody wears except that is like a switchblade on a series worn around a neck. in spite of the certainty that i assume it keeps the scholars looking clean and good. each and every time my HS had competitions with different colleges that had uniforms, we constantly felt intimidated. Uniforms help to freshen up a college's photograph, i assume.
First of all, we do not have public schools. Those were the one-room schoolhouses. What we have now are Government schools, where the Government takes your kids, teaches them its values, tells them YOU are wrong, tries to get them to accuse YOU so they can charge YOU with a crime and take YOUR kids for their own devices, and turn them into everything you could possible oppose.
Then there are private schools, which if they are smart do not accept the shackle-bound shekels from the government.
Do you know how much of YOUR money goes to the government schools and what they are doing with it?
DO you?
