My grandfather was a green beret during these time periods. He was involved in a secretive operation in south America when he was in. Now my problem is on his enlistment papers and discharge papers is dosnt mention his time with the green berets. It completely leaves out that he was stationed at fort devans and in Heidelberg Germany. Where the 10th special forces were during this time period. It just skips it.
Does anyone know why it just completely leaves it out.
My grandfather died 4 years ago so i can not ask him about any of his experiences but what kind of stuff did berets do during this time period. I already did my research and i cant fine anything it leaves this time period out on Wikipedia also.
So if anyone has any clue about my questions please answer them. I want to be a green beret to so i would like to know what type of stuff he did.
Thanks

Yeah...and I hate to break it to you...because he was never a Green Beret

His enlistment and discharge certificates will not mention any of this. His DD214 will state if he was a Special Forces Soldier, and any overseas tours. That is what you need to look for - the DD214.
If you have his DD214, and there is no mention of it, then your Grandfather was embellishing a bit.
