If there's anyone out that who lives in Brazil, I would like to know if they know anything about the Walmart down there. Is it comparable to Walmart's here in the US? What kind of stuff is available?
Yes, there are Walmart stores here in Brazil. At least in São Paulo where I live there are a few.
Some of the same items you find in the US are available, but it is a subset of the items available in the US. In addition the items cost a bit more than they would in the US. This is due to Brazilian importation tax.
For example, an iPod in the US would cost US$147 but in Brazil the same iPod is US$347.
Walmart has not been very succesful in Brazil. They face tough competition from well-established retailer in the country. I can guarantee you it is nothing like the Walmarts here in the US. There's a lot less items and prices are definitely not as good.
