Skills (learned behavior) can not be passed down by genetics.
However talent (ability to preform skills well) can be passed down by genetics.
A world breaking distance runner's child might have the same strong legs, and natural form that if he trains at running he might be as good as his father.
A woman who is good at telling if people are lying might have a child that naturally can observe that other people do not. If the child learns the signs of "lying" the kid might pick up on those ques the same as mom did because of the natural ability they both share.
You can teach anyone a skill but to be great at it they need some talent (that can't be taught). Everyone has some talent, but to be great at it they need to work on their skills (that can not be passed down genetically).
